山川灵秀、幅员辽阔的“天府之国”——四川，是一个人口大省。早在公元前两千多年，四川就产生了地方色彩非常鲜明的“三星堆”巴蜀文化。公元九五三年，后蜀孟昶首创《翰林图画院》，开我国历史上正式设立画院之先例。一九八零年邓小平同志来四川时，还倡议建立四川省画院，后来还新笔题写了《四川省诗书画院》院名。一九八四年十一月十日，在社 会各界朋友的大力支持下，四川省诗书画院终于正式成立。
四川省诗书画院是我国以研究和创作中国画艺术为主的省级画院。画院作为精神文明建设的基地，以画院为中心团结了我省老、中、青书画家。贯彻“百花齐放、百家争鸣”、“古为今用，洋为中用、推陈出新”和“文艺为社会主义服务，为人民服务”的方针。培养和造就了一批在当今画坛具有一定影响的书画家，同时，也为社会产生了一批能反映中华民族精神风貌的优秀作品。
四川省诗书画院先后举办过六十余次画展，其中包括我院院展、联展和为我省部份老、中、青书画家所举办的个人展。通过这些画展，不仅向四川人民展示了我院创作成果；有的还冲出夔门，远渡重洋，成为文化交流的使者。相继在北京、上海、大西北和沿海各大城市和台湾、香港地区以及新加坡、泰国、日本、美国、澳大利亚和欧洲各国展出，并在当地引起较大的反响，为弘扬中化民族传统文化作出了应有的贡献。
我们所取得的成绩，与中央和省委领导同志的关心以及全国美术界朋友的支持分不开，各级领导同志曾多次来我院指导工作。一九九四年四月十五日乔石委员长视察四川工作时，在百忙之中亲临画院，深入到每一个工作室，看望画师和全体工作人员，并欣然题辞鼓励我们的工作。我院建院以来所举办的艺术活动，总是得到了全国画家们和社会各界及国际友人的鼎力相助。
brief introduction to the Chinese traditional Poetry, Calligraphy, and Painting Research Academy of Sichuan Sichuan is the largest populated province in China. As early as in 2,000 BC, there appeared unique Bashu culture, Sanxindui. In the year of 953 AD. Men Xu, the emperor of Houshu (Five Dynasties), firstly Set up the Imperial Academy of Calligraphy and Painting, which was the earliest formal one in China history. When Deng Xiao-Pin came to Sichuan to visit in 1980, he suggested establishing Sichuan provincial research academy of calligraphy and painting. Afterwards, he inscribed the name as the Chinese traditional Poetry, Calligraphy, and Painting Research Academy of Sichuan. She was finally founded under great support of social various circles in Nov.10, 1984. She is a provincial academy aimed at researching and creating Chinese traditional painting. She has being regarded as the base of spiritual civilized construction to unite the painters of the old,the middle-aged, and the young in Sichuan. She has trained and brought up a group of calligraphers and painters well known in current art circle. A large number of excellent paintings embodying Chinese people spirit have been created as well.She has held painting exhibitions more than sixty times. Sheexhibited in Beijing, Shanghai,and the other coastal cities as well as in western China. In addition, she held exhibitions in Taiwan, Hongkong, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, U.S.A, Australia, and European countries. Through displaying, not only showed our research achievements to national people, but also promoted cultural exchanges with foreign countries. What we have achieved is attributed to the central and provincial leaders' care and support by the national various circles and international friends especially fine art circle's friends.
